Located at the last exit on Route 55 in Cumberland County is Schooner Landing Road. Make a right and it
will led out to Route 47, but make a left and it will led to an old road, which is gated and known as the
Manumuskin River Preserve. The preserve is over 3,500 acres in size and has a wide variety of plants and
wildlife. However it was also the site of the 1790's settlement of Fries Mill. And later in time, various iron
furnaces, saw mills, and grist mills called the area home. Some remains still stand, but of what is unsure.
Any additional information is welcome.
